I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. It is a beautifully restored ‘quinta’ or old wine manor and estate, which has belonged to the family for generations – the hotel opened in 2014. It is within ten minutes’ stroll from the centre of Lousada and about a mile and a half from the studio. The exteriors have been restored as old stone, whereas the bedrooms and other interiors are completely modern, spacious and comfortable. There is a pool and a mini golf course. Most of the rooms are around the central reception, bar and restaurant, but there are also a number of small settlements (called ‘villages’) with rooms and apartments scattered through the field and woods, also beautifully restored, and bicycles can be hired to get around! The restaurant is, for me, the best in Lousada, and offers a fusion of traditional Portuguese cuisine with more contemporary trends. If you go to the hotel site (link below), there are some lovely photos of the hotel and grounds.
You can book directly on the hotel site or by phone/email…or via booking.com or similar sites.
The staff are helpful and friendly, and will help you in any way.
