Welcome to my self study course with the option of extra private mentoring sessions – GLOW!

Many people have asked me over the years how I make my paintings appear to glow. I have developed ways over the years to do this, as one of my aims is to give my art a strong presence, and, especially with reference to certain subjects, glow not only visually but to give the piece almost a spiritual presence, as in the Buddhas that I paint.
These techniques are not at all difficult, but they do require a bit of practice, like any technique – and the right materials. So in this course I will take you gradually through the development of a painting, right from the earliest stages, with lots of extra hints and tips, through to the later stages where the ‘glow’ effect starts to appear, mainly by a combination of the right colours and types of paints, together with blending techniques which are very important to achieve the effects. Every person is totally different with a different style, so over time you will definitely adopt your own colour palettes and ways of blending and applying the paint, which is great.
I demonstrate throughout by painting a Buddha but you may choose your own subject, best kept fairly simple as you learn the techniques, or even paint an abstract if this is your preferred style.
I use my ‘secret’ hand made collage in the course and have a short course on how to make the papers in preparation, however I have included the videos already filmed in the course. If you don’t care to work with collage, it is absolutely not necessary for your painting, just an optional extra.
You also have the choice of two approaches to the course:-
- You may prefer just to do the course yourself via self study, which is absolutely fine and you will, I am sure, achieve the results you want. If you run into difficulties, or need some help, please message or email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
2. Alternatively, you may prefer to pay a little more, and this will enable you to have five 40 minute mentoring sessions via Zoom or video with me, at the beginning, during, and at the end of the course. During these sessions you can share your feelings as to how it is going and I can help you through any problems or doubts.
What does the course consist of?

Extensive notes and video demonstrations taking you step by step through five stages of the creation of a painting that ‘glows’ together with materials lists, and including information about building up background layers, mark making, collage, painting, drawing a grid, and the techniques needed to paint a piece which appears to ‘glow’. The video will also be accompanied by lots of close up photos to make it clearer for you, and there will be a materials list.
2. A fun private Facebook group where you can meet each other and share your experiences, as well as making new friends. It is also another arena if you have a question for me – I will visit the group at least once or twice a day. I’ll share some extra tips, too, on how to take your art forward after the course, while staying true to your own style and ideas.
3. For an extra payment, five 40 minute private Zoom or similar sessions to guide you through the course, help you with any problems or questions and be your mentor in any other way. My aim is to form a strong trust and friendship with you and to build your confidence, sometimes needing to deal with that ‘inner’ critic which may spoil your enjoyment of painting (we all have one!).
PAYMENT
On payment, you can access the course on my website via a private password which I send you on receipt of payment.
Of course, you may begin the course at any time after that, and do the course at your chosen pace.
For those who choose the mentoring option, I aim to always make myself available for zoom sessions .
You have, therefore, two options:-
a. Lifetime access online to entire course which has five stages, including demonstrations, membership of Facebook group and access to me via email, Messenger or the Facebook group.

b. As ‘a’ above, but in addition five private 40 minute Zoom sessions where you can ask any questions, talk about the course, while I mentor you in the way you wish, and in this way you’ll get friendly guidance throughout the course
